Early summer in Tulsa

Summer, oh summer, how we love thee! On Friday my daughter and I were walking at a local nature trail when we met a couple of people observing a Red Shouldered Hawk nest high up in the branches. They let us look into their binoculars and taught us quite a bit about hawks. You could see the fuzzy babies peeking over the edge of the nest. Then we got to walk back to the nature center with the park employee who gave us a surprise tour and pointed out the homes of a variety of park animals. All this happened because we were taking the time to ask questions and slow our pace. I just love these type of spontaneous learning moments. The world is our classroom!
