Jaisalmer the western frontier was a refreshing change compared to the mundane city life and I no more intended to vicariously enjoy the desert tales and innumerable movies, glorifying the deserts that, I had watched over the years.
We had our lodge next to the busy highway and surprisingly enough, right from the terrace we could clearly see the picturesque panoramic view of the old city of Jaisalmer and the Jaisalmer fort. We arrived in the wee hours of dawn and the sunrise was a showoff in itself, silhouetting the entire city of old Jaisalmer, atop the hill. The gargoyles complementing the beauty of the huge fort! For our quick breakfast, we were treated with parathas and a sumptuous amount of curd. Our itinerary started with the manmade lake, Gadsisar, as our first destination.
