My daughter and I went exploring at a local nature park this fall. Oklahoma is in the middle of the North American continent. Without having the ocean or any mountains nearby to moderate our temperature, we are at the mercy of the prevailing winds. During our hike we noticed the temperature dropping rapidly. It was a cold front that dropped the temperature over 30 degrees in just 2 hours. It is a good thing we had our jackets! I can’t say the same for some of the other hikers, who looked like they were freezing. I know we should prepare for changes in temperature, but Oklahoma can really catch you by surprise. We did not see any wildlife, other than birds, but I did manage to snap a few pics with my cell phone.
